It is said that Sibo comes from Tuoba, one clan of Xianbei (Sibe). Actually Sibo and XianBei are two sides of the same thing. Almost all the experts agreed that Sibe and Xianbei are the same thing. But there is a problem. Although both terms are under the Altaic group; Xianbei was in the Mongolic language but Sibo is the Tungusic language. When and under what circumstances, did the Sibo people suddenly undergo a language shift? Is it because they were defeated by other groups and ran away to Manchuria then forgot their own language in favour of the Manchu language? The Manchu language is also under the Altaic group; the Tungusic Manchu branch is just like Sibo Language. Sibo language is very similar to the Manchu language. In fact, it is a dialect of the Manchu language. The first ancestors of the Manchu were the Sushen, a people who lived during the second and first millennia BC. They were followed by the Yilou people, who were active from AD 202 to 220. The Wuji followed in the 5th century and the tribes of the Mohe in the 6th century. One of the tribes of the Mohe, the Heishui (Amur River) tribe, eventually became the ancestors of the Jurchens, from whom the Manchu originated.
The Jurchens under the Wanyan clan established the Jin Dynasty (literally Golden Dynasty) that ruled the northern half of China (1115–1234) and rivaled the Song Dynasty in southern China. The Jin was conquered by the Mongols under Genghis Khan.
Before the 17th century, the ancestors of the Manchus were generally a pastoral people, hunting, fishing and engaging in limited agriculture and pig-farming. They were completely separate from the Xianbei. Today almost all of Manchu people are unable to speak the Manchu language. Most of Manchu language scholars in fact are Sibo people. But how could they switch from one language to another in those days both transportation and communication was poor remains a mystery.

Are Sibe (Xibo) and Manchu People Related?
